โ WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET โ
WYSIWYG, EXPLAINED
What the acronym means, how we shoot it, and what happens if a piece is not fit to ship the day your order packs. The catalog refreshes weekly with dozens of new SPS cuts across Acropora, tenuis, and millepora.
- What does WYSIWYG mean in the coral hobby?
- WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get" โ you are buying an identified specimen rather than a species. Not a representative photo, not a sibling colony, not stock of the same species. Each listing sells once.
- Are all REEF JASE corals WYSIWYG?
- Yes. Every coral is photographed individually and listed on its own โ no batch listings, no scheduled restocks. The catalog refreshes weekly with dozens of new SPS cuts โ Acropora, tenuis, and millepora.
- Why does WYSIWYG matter when buying premium SPS?
- On premium SPS, no two fragments from the same mother colony look identical โ coloration, polyps, and growth form vary piece-to-piece. With a stock photo, you are buying a species, not a specimen. WYSIWYG is the only way to know exactly what is leaving the vendor for your reef.
- Are your WYSIWYG photos color-corrected or filtered?
- Photos are shot under blue reef light with an orange filter on a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra โ the standard way to capture SPS under actinic lighting โ then white-balanced for accuracy, with no saturation boost. Expect the coral to arrive slightly darker than the listing photo due to shipping stress; see /pages/acclimating-corals for the 1-3 week color-up timeline.
- What happens if a WYSIWYG piece is not in shipping condition when my order is being packed?
- We will not ship a stressed or recovering piece. We pull an equivalent fragment from the same mother colony with comparable size and coloration and notify you before it ships, or we refund the piece. We never substitute species or send a downgrade silently.
- Do you ever restock specific named corals?
- Almost never โ only for the best-of-the-best. The default is that when a piece sells, it is gone. The narrow exception is signature mother colonies where a sibling cut meets the original quality bar. There are no scheduled restocks; the catalog turns over because we constantly list new cuts.
- What is the WYSIWYG approval step before my order ships?
- Before any order ships, you receive an email with final approval photos of the actual pieces being packed. You confirm, acknowledge WYSIWYG approval is final (no returns or exchanges on live coral), and authorize the ship. Last chance to review before the box goes out.
- How is WYSIWYG different from "WYSIWYG-ish" or "representative" listings?
- Some vendors list "WYSIWYG" pieces alongside "representative" or stock-photo listings where the image is a sibling colony or generic species shot. REEF JASE does not. Every listing is a single identifiable, photographed-that-week piece โ there is no second category.
